Lucy Louise Ayris – Her Sisters Plea
On March 7, 2015, the world lost a bright soul, Lucy Louise Ayris, Aged 25, to domestic violence.
She was more than a victim – she was a mummy, a sister, a daughter, a friend, and a woman filled with kindness and dreams. Her laughter could fill a room, and her heart held love for everyone she met.
But behind closed doors, she faced a battle no one should ever endure.
She loved deeply, believing in the goodness of people. She saw hope, whereas others saw despair. Yet, the man she trusted, Billy White, Aged 22, who promised to love her, became her greatest threat. He isolated her, controlled her, and made her feel small. She hid her pain behind a smile, trying to protect those she loved from the storm she was weathering.
Then, in the silence of the night, Billy White took from her what he had no right to take…. her life as she lay defenceless in her own bed – taking a kitchen knife and stabbing her once in the neck.
She never got the chance to break free and live the future she deserved.
She left behind a little girl, just seven years old at the time, who now grows up without her mother.
But her story does not end there. Her voice, though silenced, echoes in the hearts of those who knew her. And in sharing her story, we ensure that she is never forgotten.
Billy White was sentenced to 25 years in prison, but his sentence will never bring her back.
Domestic violence is real.
It is insidious, creeping into homes and stealing lives. It thrives in secrecy and fear. But we can break the cycle. We can speak out, support survivors, and fight for justice.
If you or someone you know is in an abusive relationship, please reach out.
There is help.
There is hope.
Lucy was more than the way she left this world.
She was a shining light, loving and strong.
And in her memory, we fight for a world where no one has to suffer as she did.
Rest in power, dear sister.
Your story will save lives.
The 7th of March 2025 will be the tenth anniversary of Lucy’s death, and her sister, who lives in West London, is asking as many people as possible to #sayhername in their social media posts using the hashtag #LucyAyrisFemicide
We remember her.
